Who has the right to life?

January 22, 1973 the U.S. Supreme Court in its Roe v. Wade decision stated, in essence, that the child in the womb does not have a right to life.  The high court’s decision legalized abortion on demand 31 years ago this week.

Norma L. McCorvey, “Jane Roe” of Roe v. Wade, stated, “I am dedicated to spending the rest of my life undoing the law that bears my name.”

The following quotes show that the foremothers of the feminist movement were also against abortion.

“The woman who has recourse to abortion disowns feminist values.” Simone de Beauvoir

“It is degrading to women that we should treat our children as property to be disposed as we see fit.”  Elizabeth Cady Stanton

Alice Paul, the author of the 1923 Equal Rights Amendment stated, “Abortion is the ultimate exploitation of women.”

        Of course the Bible, God’s Word, has much to say about the Sanctity of Human Life. 

“So God created man in His own image, in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them.”  Genesis 1:27

“For You created my inmost being; You knit me together in my mother's womb….My frame was not hidden from You when I was made in the secret place. …Your eyes saw my unformed body.”  Psalms 139:13-16

        All human life, in the womb or out of the womb, is sacred because God created each of us in His image.
